59 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Finance, in view of the fact that substantial amounts of public money are paid to private landlords by way of supplementary welfare payments rent allowance, if he will introduce legislation to oblige health boards to make returns to the Revenue Commissioners concerning names, addresses, payments and other details of those persons to whom payments are made and thereby ensure greater tax compliance. The question of requiring health boards to make returns to the Revenue Commissioners of rent payments made to private landlords is being considered in the context of this year's Finance Bill.
