Question:

63 Mr. P. Gallagher (Donegal South West) asked the Minister for Health the functions delegated to each Minister of State at his Department; and the date on which the functions were delegated in each case. [5821/95]

Limerick East): The Government appointed Deputy Brian O'Shea to be Minister of State at my Department with special responsibility for mental handicap, health promotion, food safety and public health.

The Government also appointed Deputy Austin Currie to be Minister of State at my Department with special responsibility for all aspects relating to child care and policy in relation to children, particularly the implementation of the Child Care Act, 1991.

On 18 January 1995 the Government made formal orders delegating the statutory powers and duties involved in the above areas to the two Ministers of State.
