Limerick East): The Western Health Board currently employs a consultant dermatologist at University College Hospital, Galway, who, in addition to providing out-patient clinics and in-patient services at that hospital, holds out-patient clinics at Roscommon County Hospital, Mayo General Hospital and Ballina District Hospital on a regular basis. This consultant also holds an out-patient clinic at Sligo General Hospital on a regular basis for the North-Western Health Board.
No proposal in respect of the appointment of a consultant dermatologist to Mayo General Hospital has been included by the Western Health Board in its most recent manpower submission to my Department. Any initiative in this matter is a function of the board as part of its responsibility for the provision of services within its functional area.
