Question:138 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of land owned in each county by EU nationals other than Irish residents; and the amount owned on a nationality basis in each county. [6538/95]
The information requested by the Deputy is not available within my Department. However, statistics are available in relation to non-EU citizens and EU nationals who applied to the Irish Land Commission for consent to purchase agricultural land under section 45 of the Land Act, 1965 in each year since 1990.

These figures do not include purchases by EU nationals claiming the right of establishment; transactions involving areas of 2.023 hectares or less acquired for private residential purposes; or purchases by foreign-nationals who have been continuously resident in Ireland for a minimum of seven years.
A breakdown on a per county basis in respect of non-EU citizens and of nationals of individuals EU states is not readily available. However I am circulating in the Official Report a table showing, on a county basis, details of consents issued to these persons since 1990.
