Vol. 451 No. 4

Written Answers. - Alternative Mathematics.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

55 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Finance if alternative mathematics taken at leaving certificate level will be accepted as mathematics for civil service entry purposes. [6702/95]

Most competitions for appointment to the Civil Service do not include leaving certificate mathematics as an entry requirement. Where mathematics is such a requirement the question of accepting alternative mathematics taken at the leaving certificate would be dependent on the level of mathematics required to undertake the duties of the grade.
