Vol. 451 No. 5

Written Answers. - Rental Agreement for Property.

Paul McGrath

Question:

124 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education if Westmeath Vocational Education Committee recently purchased or leased a property at Kinnegad, County Westmeath; the date of this transaction; the costs involved; if sanction was obtained from her Department: and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6929/95]

County Westmeath vocational education committee entered into a rental agreement with St. Finian's Diocesan Trust for a property known as the Old Schoolhouse in Kinnegad at £5,000 per annum. The agreement which commenced in January 1994, is for an eight year period. The property in question houses the VTOS and other adult education courses. Vocational education committees make their own arrangements for accommodation for these courses from the funding provided in accordance with the relevant schemes. This is frequently done through rental or leasing arrangements for which sanction is not normally sought or given by my Department. No sanction was sought or given in this case.
