Vol. 451 No. 5

Written Answers. - Youghal (Cork) Schools.

Austin Deasy

Question:

128 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the provision of a sports hall on a shared basis for Youghal Christian Brothers' School and Youghal technical school in view of the fact that agreement has been reached by the boards of management and in view of the fact that the community has raised £135,000 towards the cost of the project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6943/95]

The accommodation requirements of Youghal Christian Brothers' School and Youghal technical school, including the need for physical education facilities, are currently being examined by my Department in consultation with the school authorities. The proposal for the provision of a sports hall, partly funded by the community, will also have to be considered in this context. Pending completion of discussions with the school authorities on how best to meet their needs it is not possible to say precisely how the schools' facilities will be developed.
