Vol. 451 No. 5

Written Answers. - Davitt House (Mayo) Upgrading.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

77 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Finance, in view of the response to Parliamentary Question No. 30 of 28 March 1995, if architects have been appointed; their brief; the expected time scale to complete the planning process; the percentage increase in square footage as against existing building; and whether recruitment of additional staff will commence before completion of the additional space. [6883/95]

Architects and engineers have been appointed to design a new extension and upgrade present facilities at Davitt House, Castlebar. The brief of accommodation is being agreed at the moment and a scheme for submission to the local authority for planning approval is being prepared. The percentage increase in the square footage to be provided will be subject to the final brief.

At this stage, it is not possible to be specific as to when the planning process will be completed but there will be no undue delay in bringing the project to tender stage. The Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry has advised that any additional staff required will be allocated by way of internal transfer.
