Vol. 451 No. 7

Written Answers. - Report of Inspector of Mental Hospitals.

Tom Moffatt

Question:

74 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Health his views on the recent comments of the Inspector of Mental Hospitals, particularly in relation to St. Brendan's Hospital, Dublin, and St. Bridget's Hospital, Ballinasloe, County Galway. [7127/95]

Limerick East): The report of the Inspector of Mental Hospitals for the year ending 3 December 1992 which was published recently, outlined, among other matters, the measures which in his opinion needed to be taken in that year to enhance patient care in all psychiatric hospitals and units, including St. Brendan's and St. Brigid's Hospitals.

The inspector's report for 1993, which will be published as soon as possible, will show that substantial improvements took place in that year in both St. Brendan's and St. Brigid's Hospitals, and this progress has been maintained to date.
