Vol. 451 No. 8

Written Answers. - Cat-Scan Procedure.

Michael Ring

Question:

85 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a cat-scan in Galway in view of the fact that it is causing great concern to the person's family. [7426/95]

Limerick East): On 5 April 1995 the patient's consultant requested that a routine cat-scan be performed, and this request was conveyed to University College Hospital, Galway by fax as is the usual procedure in such cases. However, the patient subsequently underwent an operation on 7 April for his condition which was deemed to be clinically necessary by his consultant. In the event, it was unnecessary for a cat-scan to be carried out on the patient in question.
