Vol. 452 No. 2

Written Answers. - Leixlip (Kildare) Development Plan.

Robert Molloy

Question:

16 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will accede to the request made to him by way of resolution of Leixlip Town Commission that he inquire into alleged irregularities in the making of the Leixlip Development Plan; if he will direct Kildare County Council to reduce the lands zoned residential in the plans; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5051/95]

The draft development plan for Leixlip was on public display from 1 November 1993 to 11 February 1994. Following consideration by the county council of objections and representations received in relation to the draft, a material alteration was put on display from 28 July 1994 to 31 August 1994. Following consideration of further objections and representations, the plan was adopted on 3 October 1994. I understand that in the final plan Kildare County Council scaled back the extent of the extra zonings earlier proposed.

On the face of it, therefore, the plan was adopted by the elected members of Kildare County Council after extensive public consultations I am not aware of irregularities in the procedure and I have no proposals therefore to intervene.
