Vol. 452 No. 3

Written Answers. - Operation of Bail System.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

141 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons who failed to turn up in court who had been granted bail in each of the years 1991 to 1993. [8052/95]

Court statistics are not maintained in such a way as to provide the information sought by the Deputy. The information could only be obtained by an examination of each individual charge sheet, a task which would require the allocation of scarce staff resources at the expense of other important tasks.
