88 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health if he will supply a list of the psychiatric hospitals and psychiatric units in the country; the numbers of posts established in these hospitals and units for social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists and chiropodists; and the number of vacancies existing in relation to these posts at 31 December 1994. Limerick East): Staffing complements at unit level are not identifiable in the data available in my Department. Health agencies are assigned a total employment ceiling and have discretion in the distribution of posts between individual units.
The annual Health Service Personnel Census identifies the number of posts filled by each agency by grade. The following Table A sets out the relevant extract from the census for 1993. The 1994 census is currently being finalised. Table B lists the psychaitric units in general hospitals but for reasons already stated data on staff complements for these units is not readily available.
