Vol. 452 No. 5

Written Answers. - White Paper on Education.

Michael McDowell

Question:

87 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Education the cost of producing the White Paper on Education, in draft form and in its final form, including the costs of design, origination and printing; and the number of copies of each version which were published. [8372/95]

I launched "Charting our Education Future", the White Paper on Education, on Wednesday 12 April, 1995.

The full printing of the White Paper has not yet been completed. However, it is estimated that the total cost, including design and full colour printing, will not exceed £230,000. In total, 7,000 launch copies were produced and 25,000 full colour printed copies will be produced. Accordingly, the average unit cost is estimated to be just over £7 per copy.

In addition, 80,000 copies of a bi-lingual summary guide to the White Paper were printed at a total cost of £32,500, including design and printing costs. This represents a unit cost of approximately 40 pence per copy.
