Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Tom Kitt — the need for a report on the plans by Packard Electric, Tallaght to lay off 400 members of its workforce; (2) Deputy Kathleen Lynch — the need to provide a comprehensive and integrated rehabilitation programme for offenders, both during and after sentencing; (3) Deputy O'Malley — the administration of the Southern Fisheries Board; and alleged malpractices of officials of the board; (4) Deputy O'Rourke — the crisis at Packard Electric; (5) Deputy Shortall — the need to control horses in urban areas; (6) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the plans, if any, to provide funds for a County Cork Racecourse; (7) Deputy Michael Ahern — the development programme for Mallow Racecourse; (8) Deputy O'Dea — recent newspaper reports suggesting that ransoms were paid to kidnappers during the past 12 months without the matter being reported to the Garda Síochána; (9) Deputy Harney — the proposed 400 or more lay-offs at Packard Electric; and the assurances given by the company to the Minister for Enterprise and Employment last January; (10) Deputy Dan Wallace — the urgent need to arrange a package to secure the future of Sunbeam, Cork; (11) Deputy Gregory — the crisis regarding social workers in Dublin's north inner city. (12) Deputy Hugh Byrne — the crisis in sheep prices; (13) Deputy Joe Walsh — the need to intervene to resolve the difficulties of social workers in Dublin's north inner city; (14) Deputy Broughan — the need for action to end intimidation of residents and gardaí in urban communities by criminals engaged in drug-related crime; (15) Deputy Molloy — the group water scheme in Ballycroy, County Mayo, which has been distributing contaminated water for the past three years;

The matters raised by Deputies O'Dea, Broughan, O'Rourke and Harney have been selected for discussion.
