Vol. 453 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tribute to Colonel Fitzmaurice.

David Andrews

Question:

124 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Defence the plans, if any, he has to honour the memory of Colonel James Fitzmaurice who flew in the Junkers Aircraft, Bremen, in the first transatlantic flight from Europe to America; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9481/95]

Arrangements are being made to have the Apprentice School at Casement Aerodrome named after Colonel Fitzmaurice. It is considered that this would be a fitting and enduring tribute to the part played by Colonel Fitzmaurice in Irish military aviation.
