Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

John Mulvihill

Question:

143 Mr. Mulvihill asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of lottery funding disbursed by his Department for each of the years from 1990 and to date in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10896/95]

John Mulvihill

Question:

144 Mr. Mulvihill asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of money provided from lottery funding for each recipient during each of the years 1991 to 1994. [10897/95]

John Mulvihill

Question:

145 Mr. Mulvihill asked the Minister for Social Welfare the projects and the amounts of money which have already received approval for lottery funding for which the funding has not yet been paid. [10898/95]

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 143, 144 and 145 together.

Table 1 hereunder sets out the amount of lottery funding disbursed by my Department under the various grants of support for voluntary and community organisations for each of the years 1990 to 1994 and the allocation for 1995. I have also given details of the allocations for the grant schemes that were not lottery funded in the years in question in that table.

The lottery funds allocated to my Department have been used to fund a number of schemes of grants and other supports to voluntary and community organisations.

As there were a very large number of individual grants under the various schemes in the years in question, I do not propose to circulate the details with this reply. Details of all grants paid in 1993 were placed in the Oireachtas Library for the information of Members in March 1994 and details of all grants paid in 1994 were likewise placed in the Library in March of this year. I have now arranged for details of all grants paid in the years 1990 to 1992 to be placed in the Library for the information of Members.

In relation to 1995, Table II hereunder sets out details of grants paid or approved from the national lottery subhead to date. The amounts shown under the Community Development Programme as the 1995 allocations are provisional. Payments to projects participating in the programme are made on a quarterly basis and depend on continued progress on the implementation of the agreed workplan and receipt of accounts and returns for payments previously issued. It will be noted that in some cases payment of the 1995 allocation has not commenced yet. In these cases receipt of tax clearance certificates or completion of contracts, etc. is being waited before payment can commence. In relation to the scheme of grants for lone parents return to work or second chance education initiatives, no grants have yet been approved in 1995. This scheme was advertised on 9 March and the deadline for receipt of applications was 26 April. The applications received are currently being assessed and it is expected that the grants will be allocated in early July.
