Vol. 454 No. 4

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Raphael Burke — the notification, if any, that was received from the British Government on the movement of nuclear warheads through the Irish Sea from Portsmouth to Clyde on 6 and 7 June 1995, on a British naval auxiliary ship, and the need for action in this matter; (2) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the cost to the State of old motor cars arising from the £1,000 grant payable in respect of ten year old motor cars; (3) Deputy Coughlan — the need to raise with the British authorities the case of a prisoner who is seeking a permanent transfer to Magherberry Prison, County Antrim; (4) Deputy Kenneally — the need for additional teaching resources, including a full-time remedial teacher, at Scoil Lorcáin boys' national school in Waterford city; (5) Deputy Bree — the objections raised by the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht to the proposed location of the Masonite fibre board manufacturing plant at Drumsna, County Leitrim; (6) Deputy Ellis — the decision by the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht to object to the Masonite plant at Drumsna, County Leitrim; (7) Deputy Eric Byrne — the implications for media diversity of the absence from the market of the Irish Press, the Evening Press and the Sunday Press; and the consequent attempt by News International to further penetrate the Irish newspaper market; (8) Deputy Noel Ahern — the delay in introducing regulations banning the overnight parking of trucks in residential areas; and (9) Deputy Dukes — the serious implications of the French Government's announced intention to resume nuclear testing in the South Pacific.

The matters raised by Deputies Coughlan, Dukes, Ellis and Burke have been selected for discussion.
