Tony Killeen

Question:

155 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the effect, if any, the rise in polymer prices is having on Irish trade; and the strategy, if any, he has to counter further losses. [10860/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 25 and 155 together.

As the Deputy will be aware from my reply to previous questions on this subject on 22 March and 10 May last, the price increase is part of a worldwide increase in raw material prices generally. No specific problem affecting exporters has been brought to my attention.

The Minister for Enterprise and Employment has asked the industrial development agencies, which operate under the aegis of his Department, to monitor and to advise on the situation and, where possible, to assist companies who experience particular difficulties.
