Written Answers. - Accommodation for the Homeless.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

130 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment the total annual cost to local authorities for the payment of temporary rent, board and lodging for homeless families and individuals; the largest amount paid weekly; and the longest period for which a payment has been made in any one case. [10963/95]

In 1994, £1,359,000 was paid by my Department to local authorities under section 10 of the Housing Act, 1988 as a recoupment of 90 per cent of their expenditure on accommodation of homeless persons. The other information requested is not available in my Department.
