Vol. 454 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ardee (Louth) Crime Levels.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

161 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the serious crime levels in Ardee, County Louth; if she will examine the Garda cover position in the area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11354/95]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that provisional figures indicate that the number of indictable crimes recorded in the Garda sub-district of Ardee decreased significantly from 138 in 1993 to 79 in 1994.

Ardee is patrolled regularly by the gardaí based at the local station and, in addition detective personnel attached to Navan Station augment the Garda coverage afforded to the area. Furthermore, the gardaí based at Collon Station assist, when required, in patrolling the area.
