Vol. 454 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Matt Brennan

Question:

177 Mr. M. Brennan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason compensation has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo whose beef premium cards for 1993 were wrongly stamped on two occasions. [11118/95]

The person named has been paid all grants due to him in respect of his applications under the 1993 special beef premium schemes.

One cattle identity card submitted by the person named in respect of his June 1993 — 10 month — and three cards in respect of his November 1993 — 10 month — special beef premium schemes applications were found to have been incorrectly endorsed as female instead of male. All of these cards were subsequently amended and no loss of grants occurred.

Some of the cattle identity cards submitted by the person named in respect of his January-February 1994 — 10 month — special beef premium scheme were incorrectly stamped as having already received 22 month premium instead of 10 month premium. Five of these cards were returned by the person named to the special beef unit for correction on 20 September 1994 and were corrected and returned to him on the same day.
A further two cards were returned for correction on 21 October 1994 and these were corrected and returned to him on 24 October 1994.
He was paid an advance payment in respect of the nine animals applied for under the January-February 1994 ten month special beef scheme on 7 November 1994 and the balance on 20 February 1995.
