39 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when he will deliver on his public commitment to publish his Department's report on the export of live cattle; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11200/95]
All the parties concerned have been consulted on the question of publication of this study of transit stress in live animals in an appropriate scientific journal. The position now is that the author of the study has sent his report to the editor of a veterinary journal for publication in the form of a scientific article. The article is subject to peer group adjudication. If it is not published as intended, I shall consider alternative arrangements for its publication. This study was undertaken in 1992, prior to the implementation of the statutory instrument on transporting animals which I introduced on 26 April 1995.
