58 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will give Exchequer support to the purchase of Heather Cottage and the east mountain, Howth, County Dublin, by the local community and Fingal County Council in view of the importance of the east mountain for the environmental amenity of Dubliners for many generations, including such famous couples as WB Yeats and Maud Gonne. I am aware of the proposal by the local group called Howth Sutton 2000 to purchase Heather Cottage and an adjoining area of approximately 430 acres of land. There are, however, no funds at my disposal at this stage to assist this initiative.
