Question:

65 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for the Environment if he will meet a delegation of members of the North-Western Fisheries Board in the near future. [11489/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 64 and 65 together.

In response to a letter from the North Western Regional Fisheries Board about the need for a new sewage treatment plant for Crossmolina and nutrient removal facilities for Castlebar, I have explained to the board the present position regarding these schemes. Mayo County Council has submitted a proposal for an integrated catchment protection scheme for the Conn-Cullen catchments which includes the two schemes; the proposal is being examined in my Department at present with a view to a possible Cohesion Fund application. In these circumstances, I do not think that a meeting with a deputation from the board is necessary.
