Vol. 454 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dollymount (Dublin) Bridge.

Ivor Callely

Question:

75 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine the reason restrictive weight measures had to be introduced on the timber bridge to the North Wall at Dollymount, Dublin 3 in recent years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11567/95]

The bridge in question is now 84 years old. Over the years Dublin Port and Docks Board has been monitoring on a regular basis the volume of traffic passing over the bridge. Due to the increased frequency of passenger coaches and heavy delivery trucks using the bridge Dublin Port and Docks Board considered it necessary to introduce the present maximum vehicle loading of two tonnes.
