94 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the decision, if any, that has been made arising from a meeting with a delegation in her office on 27 April 1995 regarding the submission from a number of schools in the west Finglas area of Dublin for security services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A pilot security project, covering a number of schools in the east Finglas area, was initiated in June 1993 for an initial period of one year. In 1994, it was decided to extend the project for a further year, until 1995, at which stage its effectiveness will be evaluated by all parties involved in it. An evaluation of the project is being carried out at present. Any question of continuing the project further, or of extending it to other areas, such as west Finglas, must await the evaluation report.
