Vol. 455 No. 5

Written Answers. - Collins Barracks Report.

Síle de Valera

Question:

70 Miss de Valera asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he has considered the report from the working group on Collins Barracks; and the steps, if any, he is taking to implement it. [12400/95]

The interim board of the National Museum presented me with its report on 7 June 1995. Given the interim board's terms of reference to advise on the Collins Barracks project and to draw up a five year strategic plan for the museum addressing the wide range of issues involved including future museum structures, the recommendations of the board are numerous and wide ranging. My Department is currently examining the report and recommendations of the interim board including what steps would be necessary to implement it. After this consideration I will be making proposals to Government on the report. I take this opportunity to express my appreciation of the work of the interim board and the dedication and commitment shown by its members.
