Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Cork Sewerage Schemes.

Joe Walsh

Question:

176 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to extend the Castletownbere sewage scheme to the Droum area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13191/95]

Contract documents for this scheme have been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of demands under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve them.

Joe Walsh

Question:

177 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has for the provision of a sewage treatment plant for Skibbereen, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13192/95]

I refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 96 and 98 of 9 March 1995.

Sludge management proposals are being developed by Cork County Council, as requested by my Department, on the basis of the national sludge strategy study. When these proposals are further advanced, it will be possible to complete the re-examination of the preliminary report for the Skibbereen sewerage scheme, which my Department has also requested, having regard to its sludge management implications.
