Question:

26 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will have arrangements made for an observer from his Department to be present at the hearing currently taking place under the United Kingdom Race Relations Act concerning the dismissal from employment of an Irish citizen (details supplied). [13138/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 12 and 26 together. As I explained to the Deputy in my letter of 5 September, the Embassy in London is not in a position to attend the hearing. However, an officer of the Embassy has discussed the case with the individual concerned and the Embassy is prepared to give her whatever practical advice or assistance it can.
