Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Saint Patrick's Day Parade.

Noel Ahern

Question:

324 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the plans, if any, he has for the Dublin Saint Patrick's Day Parade; if he will retain the previously established format; if additional financial resources will be made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13137/95]

A Steering Committee under the Chairmanship of Michael Colgan has been appointed to oversee the organisation of next year's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin. The Steering Committee which will be concentrating particularly on format, content and design, has, under the aegis of the National Tourism Council, already been allocated £50,000 in the current year and is currently seeking additional funding from both the private and public sources to ensure that the 1996 Dublin Parade will be a memorable national event which will be successfully used to portray an attractive image of modern Ireland abroad.
