Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Order For Recovery of Costs.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Question:

364 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, that have been taken under the High Court Judgement in a case (details supplied) by his Department to recover half the damages paid from specified companies as ordered by the court. [13155/95]

The High Court order in question refers to the recovery of costs, not damages. Execution of this order has been stayed pending the outcome of an appeal by the Department and certain beef processors to the Supreme Court which was heard from 30 November to 6 December 1994. The judgement of the Supreme Court has not yet been delivered.
