Vol. 456 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Tax Revenue.

Michael McDowell

Question:

81 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to return to local authorities moneys collected in road tax; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12538/95]

As indicated by my colleague the Minister for Finance in reply to Question No. 64 of 5 April 1995, moneys collected in road tax by the local authorities on behalf of the Exchequer are taken to account as part of general tax revenue and are used to fund Exchequer spending generally. There are no plans to alter that arrangement.
