Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy Séamus Brennan. I call on the Deputy to state the matter of which he has given notice.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.
I seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 30 to debate a matter of urgency, the allegation that the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications has misled the Dáil.
Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion. As the House is well aware, the Minister concerned will be taking questions on the matter today and, as I have said so often to the House, in matters of this kind if serious allegations are to be made against a Member of the House it should be done in accordance with our procedures. A suitable motion, a substantive motion, should be tabled to deal with such matters.
