Vol. 456 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

43 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the plight of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 2 who lives in a hostel, earns unemployment assistance of £62 per week and pays £60 per week rent leaving her with £2 per week for clothing, bus fares, lunches and so on; and the agencies, if any, who can advise this person who is also employed by REHAB and receives £10 a week on top of the £2 left over after she pays rent to the YMCA hostel, in view of the fact that the Eastern Health Board will not assist anyone living in a hostel. [14755/95]

Limerick East): The question of entitlement to assistance of the type mentioned in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the Chief Executive Officer, Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
