Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Relocation of Householders.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

76 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Finance the current position on the relocation of householders in the south Galway area who were forced to abandon their homes in January 1995, during the flooding. [14823/95]

The Commissioners of Public Works have initiated contacts with all the people in the south Galway area who have applied to them to be considered for relocation under the Government's relocation package for flood victims, which is being made available as a once-off measure in response to the particular circumstances of the flooding throughout the country earlier this year. Information collected on these visits is being evaluated and will lead to further discussions with each applicant regarding the particular circumstances of their case.

Every effort is being made to ensure that formal offers of assistance will be made to qualified applicants at the earliest possible date.
