Vol. 457 No. 2

Written Answers. - Diplomatic Relations with CUBA.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

51 Mr. Clohessy asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the reason Ireland is the only country in the EU not to have diplomatic relations with Cuba; and the steps, if any, he will take to enter into such diplomatic relations. [15110/95]

Deputies will be aware of the limited resources available for the purposes of Ireland's representation abroad. Ireland has only one resident mission in Latin America. However, that has not precluded the development of open relations and dialogue with representatives of Cuba and its people.
