Vol. 457 No. 4

Written Answers. - Appeals System.

Austin Deasy

Question:

49 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the appeals system which he intends to put in place for members of the public who are dissatisfied with their treatment by the health boards and the system in general; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15517/95]

Limerick East): My Department is completing its consideration of an appropriate appeals system. I envisage that the proposed system, which will cater for appeals against health board decisions in relation to the awarding of medical cards and nursing home subvention payments, will be operated by a separate and independent agency.
