Vol. 457 No. 4

Written Answers. - Seaside Resort Scheme.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

78 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Finance the procedures, if any, that have been put in place to allow applications under the seaside resort scheme in respect of Bundoran. County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15435/95]

The new renewal scheme for traditional seaside resorts commenced on 1 July last for a three year period. The purpose of the scheme is to renew and update the tourist amenities and facilities in a certain limited number of seaside resorts. As the Deputy is aware, Bundoran has been included in this scheme.

There are no specific application procedures that an individual needs to make in order to qualify for the scheme. Details of the specific designated areas included in the scheme are available from the relevant local authority. In addition, details of what constitutes a qualifying project are available from the Department of Tourism and Trade.

Once an applicant is satisfied that the project qualifies under the scheme then he/she should proceed with the project and should then apply for the relevant tax relief through his/her own tax office.
