Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Molloy — an droch chaoi atá ar áiseanna i Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin, an Cheathrú Rua, Contae na Gaillmhe agus cén plean atá ag an Rialtas chun athchóiriú iomlán a dhéanamh ar an scoil; (2) Deputy McCreevy — the reason the direct debit instalment method governing the payment of preliminary tax is not available in respect of the 1995-96 tax year; (3) Deputy McDaid — the current position regarding the water supply to the area in County Donegal known as the Lagan Desert; (4) Deputy Joe Walsh — the closure of the customs office in Castletownbere, County Cork; (5) Deputy Kenneally — the need for additional accommodation at St. Declan's Community College, Kilmacthomas, County Waterford; (6) Deputy Frances Fitzgerald — the current dispute regarding the safety of certain contraceptive pills; (7) Deputy Broughan — the provision of youth services and facilities in the Belcamp parish in Darndale, Dublin 17, and the Foxfield parish in Kilbarrack, Dublin 13; (8) Deputy O'Dea — the need to control the supply and distribution of the heroin substitute, methadone, to prevent black marketeering and illegal use; (9) Deputy Moffatt — the need to ensure the retention of Beleek Wood, Ballina, as a public amenity solely for tourism and recreational purposes; (10) Deputy Foley — the need for funding for a diabetic unit at Tralee General Hospital; (11) Deputy Michael Kitt — the decision to seek refunds from farmers in respect of 1994 extensification premiums or to deduct the amount with interest from 1995 special schemes payments; (12) Deputy Tom Kitt — the new initiatives that will be introduced to tackle long-term unemployment following the publication of the Labour Force survey by the CSO and (13) Deputy Cowen — the expenditure of over £1 million on consultancy services by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and the State bodies under its aegis since January 1995.

The matters raised by Deputies Joe Walsh, O'Dea, Michael Kitt and Cowen have been selected for discussion.
