Written Answers. - White Paper on Broadcasting.
To date, my Department has received 116 responses to the Green Paper on the future of broadcasting from a range of interested parties. These are being examined at present and will inform my deliberations as I develop definite proposals for fresh legislation. I hope to be in a position to submit definite proposals for Government consideration during the course of 1996.
For the sake of completeness, having regard to the amount of time that the preparation and publication of a White Paper would add to the process, I am inclined, at this stage, to move directly to the legislative stage, in which case I would then publish the proposals for legislation approved by Government prior to the Bill being drafted.
