Vol. 457 No. 6

Written Answers. - Galway Water Supply Scheme.

Noel Treacy

Question:

82 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a tender for a project in County Galway (details supplied) has not been sanctioned; the date on which it was forwarded to his Department; the date on which a decision will be made; the amount of money being allocated for this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15863/95]

The overall cost of the Gort water supply scheme is estimated at £6 million. Tenders for the site investigation contract were received in my Department in October 1994. Having regard to the existing high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the scheme.
