Question:

152 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he will clarify section 3, article 12, part 2 of the Road Traffic Regulations, SI No. 273 of 1968 regarding the use of, or any signs of the use of, roof signs by hackney members of MPWGH in accordance with these regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15518/95]

Article 3 of the Road Traffic (Public Services Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1968 amends article 12 of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 to provide that any telephone number or any sign or advertisement indicating the nature of the business in which the vehicle or its owner is engaged, or that the vehicle is for hire, shall not be used or exhibited in, or on, a small public service vehicle other than a taxi. Enforcement of these regulations is a matter for the Garda.
