94 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the appointment of a company (details supplied) as consultants to his Department without any tendering procedure; the purpose for which the firm was appointed; the duration of the contract; the cost of the contract; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The consultants referred to by the Deputy were appointed by, and to provide media assistance to the then newly appointed Minister of State at my Department Deputy Hogan, at the time of the budget. The cost of the contract was £2,900 and was completed between 1 and 7 February 1995. No tendering procedure was undertaken because of the limited time available, the relatively small size of the assignment and the known expertise of the firm to provide the service required.
