Vol. 457 No. 8

Written Answers. - Influenza Vaccine.

Michael Ferris

Question:

91 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health his views on whether sufficient influenza vaccine is available to general practitioners for patients at risk; the charge, if any, for this vaccination for holders of medical cards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16469/95]

Following consultation with the health boards, arrangements were made for the purchase and supply of influenza vaccine for the at-risk categories in the GMS population. In addition an estimate of the number of non GMS card holders in the at-risk categories was supplied to the Irish Pharmaceutical Union.

The situation is kept under constant review to ensure sufficient supplies of the vaccine.

The vaccine is available to GMS card holders in the at-risk categories from their general practitioner free of charge.
