Liz O'Donnell

Question:

99 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health his views on whether there is a need for a national survey to determine the geographical manpower requirements of general practice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16501/95]

Limerick East): Following a recent meeting between representatives of the Irish Medical Organisation and officials of my Department, a working group has been established for the purposes of reviewing the provisions governing general practitioner entry to the general medical services scheme. This group, which also includes representation from the Irish College of General Practitioners, has been asked to bring forward proposals as to how an overall general practice manpower study can best be undertaken.
