Vol. 458 No. 3

Written Answers. - Columb Barracks, Mullingar.

Willie Penrose

Question:

109 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Defence the works of a capital nature which were carried out in Columb Barracks, Mullingar, County Westme-ath in 1994 and 1995; the cost of these works; the proposals, if any, he has for further expenditure in 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16943/95]

In addition to normal day to day maintenance the main refurbishment works approved for Columb Barracks, Mullingar during 1994 and 1995 were the replacement of windows, internal painting of married quarters, improved ESB metering facilities and replacement of the central heating boiler involving total expenditure in the region of £92,000.

Tenders are expected to be sought shortly for repair of the barrack boundary wall.

As regards the question of proposals for further works in 1996, details of the building and engineering programme for military barracks for 1996 have yet to be finalised.
