Vol. 458 No. 5

Written Answers. - Commonage Division.

Joe Walsh

Question:

190 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the current position regarding commonage division; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17399/95]

The division of commonage lands, where all the shareholders agree to the division, is progressing at a reasonable rate given the limited resources available for this work. The Land Commission gives reports in individual cases when it is requested by shareholders. However, schemes to divide commonages using the compulsory powers of the Land Commission are delayed pending the resolution of an appeal to the High Court against a scheme to divide a commonage in County Mayo.
