Vol. 458 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the need to rectify the unsatisfactory provision for third level places in Cork arising from the Higher Education Authority report; (2) Deputy Flanagan — the need to complete the ongoing refurbishment developments at Mountmellick community school, County Laois, to allay the concerns of the local community; (3) Deputy Power — the need to introduce a ban on smoking advertising; (4) Deputy Shatter — the contacts, if any, which took place between the Garda authorities and the Mid-Western Health Board between 1990 and 1993 when it came to the attention of the health board that a child in Limerick had been sexually abused by a priest; and (5) Deputies Geoghegan-Quinn, O'Rourke, Cowen and Connolly — the serious industrial dispute in the Midland Health Board area which has led to the disruption of health services in the region.

The matters raised by Deputies Power, Shatter, O'Keeffe and Flanagan have been selected for discussion.
