Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Extension.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

132 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if she will give a progress report on the provision of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary; when funding will be made available for the project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17719/95]

My Department is awaiting a response from the school authorities in relation to the outline sketch scheme for the project.

At this early stage of architectural planning the question of funding does not arise. However, I assure the Deputy that when the project has reached an advanced stage of planning the question of allocating funds will be considered.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

133 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the amount of capital moneys expended on national schools, by school under its county heading, for 1994 and to date in 1995. [17737/95]

In 1994, the amount of capital moneys spent on primary schools was £21 million. In 1995, the amount spent to 23 November was £21.8 million. The school and county details sought by the Deputy are not readily available in my Department. The number of schools which received grant-aid in the 1994-1995 period would be in the region of 2,000.

If the Deputy requires information on a particular school, he might give the details to my office and I will arrange to have the matter examined.
